Okan resigns as AFAB chair

The Allocable Fees and Appropriations Board (AFAB) chair, Patrick Okan, has resigned for personal reasons. Benjamin Blanchard, the vice-chair of AFAB, will be the interim chair until a new chair is appointed, as per Student Senate by-laws, said President Tyler Halverson. 

Halverson said a new chair would be appointed by AFAB’s first meeting of the semester on Thursday, Jan. 26.

New technology introduces potential students to campus

Starting this year prospective students will have a different way of visiting the campus. The Admissions Office at UW-River Falls is planning to launch a new program which will allow prospective students to be able to tour the campus virtually with the option of being able to chat with an online staff person at the school to answer any questions a potential student may have.

UWRF fall commencement to be held Dec. 18 at Knowles

UW-River Falls will hold its fall commencement at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, in the Robert P. Knowles Physical Education and Recreation Center. Some 424 bachelor’s and master’s degree recipients are expected to participate.

Library showcases Chinese, Japanese clothing

The modern language department at UWRiver Falls is bringing a little of bit of Chinese and Japanese culture to the University, with their exhibit of Chinese minority costumes and traditional Japanese costumes. The display which will be presented in the Harriet Barry gallery located inside the Davee Library will run from Monday, Dec. 5 through Tuesday, Dec.20.

UW-River Falls alumnus presents on career success

David Swensen, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for Yale University and a member of the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, will deliver a lecture at UWRiver Falls on Monday, Dec. 12. The lecture is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in the Kinnickinic Theater located on the third floor of the University Center.

Orientation event teaches alcohol safety, responsibility

Starting this year, UW- River Falls had a new event during the Week Of Welcome (WOW), called “Choose Your Adventure.” This event was designed to help new students learn about alcohol use and abuse and learn about personal responsibility.
